How to describe your camera fault

The more Tim knows upfront, the faster he can assess whether a repair is straightforward, give you a realistic estimate, and tell you if parts need sourcing. A couple of minutes now saves time for everyone.

You do not need to know the technical cause. Just describe what you see, what you hear, and what happened before it started going wrong. Tim will take it from there.

    Camera make and model

    For example: Canon EOS R5, Nikon Z6 II, Sony A7 III, Olympus OM-1. Check the label on the body if unsure.

    What the camera actually does

    Blank screen, shutter sticks, error code shown, images come out blurred or dark, lens will not extend.

    When it started

    Was it sudden or gradual? Did it happen after a particular event or session, or one day out of nowhere?

    Any error codes shown

    Canon Err codes, Nikon blinking displays, Sony messages. Note the exact text or number if you can.

    Whether it was dropped or got wet

    Even minor impacts or brief moisture matter. Tim has seen it all, so just be honest and he can assess it properly.
